Dr. Shashikant Mhashal

Senior Consultant – ENT, Head & Neck & Skull Base Surgeon

Dr Shashikant Mhashal is a distinguished ENT, Head & Neck and Skull Base Surgeon with over 18 years of extensive clinical, surgical and academic experience. Recognized as one of Mumbai's leading ENT specialists, he has dedicated his career to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care for a wide range of ear, nose, throat, head and neck disorders. Currently serving as Additional Professor in the Department of ENT at HBT Medical College & Dr R. N. Cooper Hospital, he has previously held academic positions at Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital and has played a pivotal role in training the next generation of ENT surgeons.

Dr Mhashal has special expertise in endoscopic skull base surgery, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), endoscopic ear surgery, endoscopic tympanomastoidectomy, endoscopic stapedotomy, microlaryngeal surgery, sleep apnoea surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery and head & neck cancer surgery. He routinely manages complex ENT disorders including chronic sinusitis,

nasal polyps, hearing loss, chronic ear disease, thyroid disorders, voice disorders, facial trauma and head & neck tumours using advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. An accomplished academician and researcher, Dr Mhashal is a recognized DNB teacher and examiner, reviewer for the Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, and an invited faculty member at numerous national and international ENT conferences. He has authored multiple scientific publications in reputed journals and has been instrumental in organizing advanced cadaveric dissection workshops in endoscopic sinus surgery and temporal bone surgery, contributing significantly to surgical education in India.

Dr Mhashal's contributions to the field have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including an International Travel Fellowship in Skull Base Surgery, the Mayor's Award for excellence in the Department of ENT, and felicitations for his outstanding work during the COVID-19 mucormycosis epidemic. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Mumbai Branch, reflecting his leadership and commitment to advancing the specialty.
